NBBQA CONTINGENCY SPONSOR PROGRAM

The 2011 Contingency Sponsor Program has concluded. Check back soon for information about the 2012 program.

All professional competition teams have the opportunity to win extra cash by participating in the National Barbecue Association Contingency Program, which is designed to help companies acknowledge teams that use and win with their products. Please refer to the Schedule & Posted Awards and Sponsor Payout Requirements (see below) for specific contingency details. These documents will be updated regularly.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to receive contingency awards, teams must comply with the following requirements:
1) Head cook must have a current paid membership in NBBQA.
2) Teams must show documentation that all sponsor payout requirements have been fulfilled.

NBBQA representatives will be on site at each of the posted competitions to register teams and sign up new members. Head cooks must sign in at each event prior to the first turn-in.

Claiming an Award

Winning teams will be given the proper form by a NBBQA representative following the awards ceremony to identify any claims they wish to make. After being notified of the claim by the NBBQA, sponsoring companies will contact the eligible teams to verify fulfillment of all contingency requirements. Awards will be paid directly by the sponsoring companies to the cook teams. Sponsors are encouraged to process awards payments within 10 days of receiving the appropriate documentation.

Restrictions

Claims must be submitted to the NBBQA within 90 days of the event. Any claim received after this time will be considered void and will not be paid by sponsors. Claims that do not comply with all contingency program requirements will not be paid. Teams may only claim an award from one pit company at each competition. Knowingly claiming an award for a product that was not in use at the posted event will be considered a fraudulent claim. Any team or head cook filing a fraudulent claim will be banned from the program and/or face other disciplinary actions.

For more information about the NBBQA Contingency Program—including registering your cook team, signing on as a sponsor or having your event added to the program—contact Kell Phelps, Contingency Program Chair at 912-389-2635 or kell@barbecuenews.com.
