NBBQA Launches 2026–27 National Live Fire Experience Series
Qualifying events set the stage for the 2027 National Live Fire Championship
The National Barbecue & Grilling Association (NBBQA) has officially announced the 2026–27 National Live Fire Experience Series, creating a new pathway for teams to earn their place in the 2027 National Live Fire Championship.
Following the success of the inaugural championship earlier this year, the Live Fire Experience Series will bring the same proven format to multiple locations across the country—combining skill, fire management, and live audience engagement into one high-energy competition environment.
New for the series is a Friday evening public event and sampling experience, designed to connect competitors directly with fans. This added component creates an interactive environment where attendees can truly experience live fire cooking by engaging with teams while enjoying samples that are competition-level.
Confirmed Dates & Locations: 
Greenwood, South Carolina – October 9–10, 2026
Byhalia, Mississippi – November 13–14, 2026
Nashville, Tennessee – September 11–12, 2026
Each event will feature a limited field of up to 20 teams, ensuring a focused, competitive atmosphere while giving attendees an up-close look at live fire cooking at its highest level. “The Live Fire Experience Series is about more than qualifying for a National Championship—it’s about growing the culture of live fire cooking,” said NBBQA leadership. “We’re working to create events where competitors, brands, and fans all connect around the fire.”
